The Town of Lebanon, which is the county seat for Russell County (Va.), received state funding during 2015 to begin revitalizing its downtown. The following was adapted from an article published in The Lebanon News, a weekly newspaper in our county.

LEBANON, Va. – During a special meeting of the Lebanon Town Council on October 29, 2015, the council voted to proceed with improvements to crosswalks, sidewalks and street lighting in the original section of town.

The Town of Lebanon, which is the county seat for Russell County (Va.), received state funding during 2015 to begin revitalizing its downtown. The following was adapted from an article published in The Lebanon News, a weekly newspaper in our county.

In order to beautify the downtown, restore a historical atmosphere and inspire growth of business, the town has plans for sidewalk and crosswalk markings and the addition of new street lights. This first phase of the initiative will cover the area from the courthouse to east Church Street (Calvert Corner).

The town is eligible to begin this project with state funds. Mayor Tony Dodi expressed excitement about beginning the work and preparing the town for its bicentennial celebration in three years. The application discussed at a prior meeting related to other main street grants was tabled during the meeting to allow more time for preparing the application.
